This ceramic askos was found in a grave of ancient Pylos’ cemetery at Gialova lagoon. It was used as a hot water bottle. The vessel was filled with hot or cold water for healing or suppressing the pain, causing hyperaemia or cold respectively. The broad curved rear side could fit well to various parts of the body, such as the thigh, neck, back or abdomen.
