Fragment of a black-glazed open drinking vessel. A votive inscription on the outer surface reads Π]ΟΗΟΙΔΑ[ΝΙ (Posoidani, Poseidoni). The inscription has led o the identification of Poseidon as the god worshiped in the sanctuary that has come to light at Akovitika, Kalamata, next to the river Aris. Its period of use was between 1000 BCE and the 4th cent. BCE.
