Single-handled ceramic Keftiu cup. A plastic ring around the middle of the bally. Pale yellow clay. The ring is covered with dark paint and the handle is decorated with oblique parallel lines. The body, above the ring, is decorated with a row of medallions with a hatched pattern, connected by three diagonal lines and supplemented by small circles on either side. Found in a storage room of over 100 vessels at Voroulia, Tragana. The shape and decoration of the vessels indicate the use of this room during the transition between the Middle and Late Helladic periods, in the first formative stages of the mycenaean civilization in Messenia.
