Height: 23 cm
Piriform jar. Pale yellow clay. Brownish-black decoration, solidly painted neck, handles and base. Scale pattern on the body. From tholos tomb 2 at Routsi, Myrsinochori. Two early mycenaean tombs were excavated here, with numerous luxurious offerings made of gold, bronze, ivory and semi-precious stones, including weapons, jewellery, necklaces, and elaborately decorated terracotta vessels. They were offerings to burials of local officials of high status and power. Many of the grave offerings are exhibited in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens.
