ceramic grill of orthogonal shape, mended by numerous fragments, missing a significant part. This is an artefact used to hold a series of spits, used for grilling meat. Brownish-red to cinder-coloured clay, due to the exposure to fire. Vertical ring handles on the long sides. Grooves on the upper surface of the long sides were used to receive the spits. Found in Room 105, the so-called oinotheke (wine-cellar) of the palace of Nestor. It contained 35 pithoi of wine, placed in rows on the clay-paved floor. The oinotheke, along with the other rooms of the palatial complex, use for storing olive oil and wine, reflect the crucial role of agricultural production for the everyday life of mycenaean Pylos.
