Bronze statuette of a kouros, integral with an orthogonal base. The left leg in front of the left one. The right arm bent foreword at the elbow with a clenched fist. The right arm on the hip, also with a clenched fist. The hair arranged in curls, held by a double ribbon at ear-height and covering the upper back. Intense facial features. Long nose, fleshy, half-open lips, forming an “archaic smile”. Large almond-shaped eyes with high-relief eye lids and toned eye balls. The eye brows are rendered with a curved incision. The nipples formed as incised circles, the abdominal muscles in linear style. This is a statuette of the archaic period, handed by a resident of Akovitika, Kalamata. A sanctuary of Poseidon was partly excavated here, next to the river Aris. Its period of use was between 1000 BCE and the 4th cent. BCE.
