Marble statue of a man wearing a himation. The head and neck are missing, along with the left arm and hand, the feet and part of the plinth. The man wears a chiton and a himation. The right arm is bent in front of the chest. A bunch of papyrus scrolls, held together by a band, by the left foot. It was found at ancient Messene's Gymnasion. The scrolls by the left foot are a sign that his was a man of the letters. His name, according to the inscription the base was Tiberius Claudius son of Nikekratos. 1st cent. CE.
